Gommages
by Lore Smolders
solo exhibition
We are proudly presenting Gommages, a solo exhibition by Lore Smolders.
From an interest in healing strategies, Smolders applies her own systems based on foot reflexology, among others, and works around topics such as digestion, miscommunication and taboo. “The solution is not always where the problem is,” she says. Can we think of emotions as something structural rather than merely individual feelings?
To gommage is to erase something while allowing something to emerge. Who determines when something has failed, and how can one recover from it? When dead skin is loosened, a new drawing can emerge.

3/11 13:00-18:00 EXPO
9/11 13:00-18:00 EXPO
10/11 13:00-18:00 EXPO + Talk with Juan Duque, 16:00 - 17:00
Alan Van Rompuy (BE/CH, lives in Brussels) known as Azertyklavierwerke (experimental vocals, synths) brings on Oct. 27 a musical performance around the idea of improvisation and the use of a vocabulary - just as Lore's drawings are composed of letters, legends, leitmotifs and recurring symbols.
Juan Duque (b. 1974, Colombia, lives in Brussels, queer artist, curator, performer, researcher) of The Green Corridor for a public conversation. This will serve to open up her (ways of) work(s) to an audience. The Green Corridor is a relevant offspace in Brussels that supports artists and collectives in their research, brings together different networks, including mainly queer networks, and presents itself as a safe space. Juan and Lore already worked together during a residency in February 2024.
